Our opening match for the YOT Thailand 2018 features 2 local players from Thailand.

Thahaphat Watjanacharoenrat on the left is running Trickstar, while Nanthich Kaewmunee on the right is playing Invoked ABC.

Duel 1

Thahaphat went first and opened with a Pot of Desires, but only had 2 set Spell/Trap cards before ending his turn.

Nanthich played Magicial Meltdown and added Aleister the Invoker from deck to hand. Aleister was summoned but his effect wasn’t activated.

He followed with Dragon Ravine, discarding Glow-Up Bulb to activate the effect, but it was met with a Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit.

Glow-Up Bulb revived itself and together with Aleister, they were used to Link Summon Crystron Needlefiber but its summon was negated by Solemn Strike.

The first Invocation was negated by Solemn Judgment, but Nanthich played a second Invocation from hand and it resolved successfully, bringing out Invoked Mechaba.

The graveyard effect of Invocation returned Aleister from graveyard to hand. A direct attack with Mechaba and Aleister’s effect pumped its ATK up to 3500. That was the game as Thahaphat had earlier paid too much Life Points for the activation of the Solemn Trap cards.

Thahaphat Watjanacharoenrat [Trickstar] 0 – 1 Nanthich Kaewmunee [Invoked ABC]

Duel 2

Thahaphat chose to go first and went off with Terraforming into Trickstar Light Stage into Trickstar Candina.

When Candina was summoned, her trigger effect was stopped by Infinite Impermanence. This left him with no other plays except setting 2 Spell/Trap cards.

Nanthich had a Twin Twisters to clear the two backrow cards, forcing a Trickstar Reincarnation.

Nanthich banished and drew 3 cards, and among those were Aleister the Invoker and Destrudo the Lost Dragon’s Frisson. Aleister was summoned and fetched Invocation. Destrudo’s effect Special Summoned itself from hand and together with Aleister they were used to bring out Crystron Needlefiber.

Needlefiber special summoned Mecha Phantom Beast O-Lion, and the standard Summon Sorceress combo follows.

That developed into a row of Knightmare Link Monsters and Firewall Dragon.

As Nanthich was banishing A-Assault Core, B-Buster Drake and C-Crush Wyvern for ABC-Dragon Buster, Thahaphat conceded the game and offered the handshake.

Thahaphat Watjanacharoenrat [Trickstar] 0 – 2 Nanthich Kaewmunee [Invoked ABC]

This was a quick match as Nanthich Kaewmunee’s Invoked ABC was able to play through or clear his opponent’s backrow Trap cards and quickly win with an One-Turn-Kill.
